ANA offering jumbo seats for sale
Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways is offering the perfect gift for all AvGeeks.
Aviation fans with $5,000 to spare can snap up a ‘premium’ airline seat recently dismantled from one of ANA’s decommissioned 747 jets.
"Unlike the economy seats, these seats are wide and comfortable, and let users really relax," said Chiho Matsukawa, spokeswoman for ANA Trading, the merchandising division of the airline.
The carrier has removed all electrics from the seats and adapted the seat legs so that they can be used in the home without being bolted to the floor.
Dating from the 1970’s, the Boeing 747 was "an icon of the era of mass transportation", ANA said.
The airline retired its last 747 earlier his year.
Aviation fans hoping to get their very own airline seat in time for Christmas will be disappointed.
The seats go on open sale on Christmas Day until February and will be delivered in March, ANA said.
