Another Heathrow strike set to pile on misery for holidaymakers
Further travel chaos is expected at the UK’s largest airport as Heathrow fuel workers voted for industrial action.
Unite Union members at Aviation Fuel Services voted to go on strike later this month over pay.
The company provides fueling services to several airlines at LHR.
Unite says AFS workers haven’t had a pay rise for three years.
“Strike action will inevitably cause considerable disruption across Heathrow but this strike is entirely of AFS’s own making,” said Unite regional officer Kevin Hall.
“Strike action and the resulting disruption can be avoided if AFS returns to the negotiating table and makes an offer that meets our member’ expectations.”
A 72-hour strike is slated for July 21.
Meanwhile, British Airways is continuing talks with union officials to avoid strikes by check-in staff at Heathrow.
