Antigua to welcome Barmy Army
Fresh from the Ashes series against Australia, (although let’s not dwell on that) the England cricket team will be heading off to the Caribbean to face the West Indies for One Day Internationals at Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards stadium on February 28, and March 2 and 5.
Fans will be able witness the unveiling ceremony of the new statue of Sir Vivian Richards at the stadium that carries his name on Wednesday, February 26.
A number of cricketing legends are set to attend.
The Barmy Army can use their days off to explore Antigua or party at Shirley Heights, renowned for its Jump Up BBQs and rum punch.
Cherrie Osborne, director of tourism for UK and Europe at the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority, said: "2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the first Antiguan to have played Test cricket and we will celebrate this milestone."
