Apartments Abroad adopts dynamic packaging technology
Apartments Abroad is launching dynamic packaging, bringing together the accommodation-only firm’s 16,000 worldwide properties and fares from 50 airlines.
The Travelhawk dynamic packaging tool combines the company’s accommodation database and booking engine with the FlightScanner web-based airfare search technology supplied by Dolphin Dynamics
The link to Dolphin FlightScanner, already used by more than 7,000 agents, offers real-time pricing and availability then takes the agent directly to the booking page of the airline site without the need to re-enter any information, according to Apartments Abroad.
This allows Travelhawk to complement accommodation choices with the best available fares of both no-frills and regular scheduled airlines, including Ryanair, easyJet, bmibaby, Jet2, Thomsonfly and British Airways.
The system, which will cost agents a £35 monthly license fee, has a single interface for the inputting of a client’s request details. It is due to go live on Monday after trails with agents.
Apartments Abroad claims most other systems require information to be re-input for each holiday component required. This time-consuming need has been abolished by upgrading the operator’s website to include a destination and departure field within its accommodation search facility. Data from the search then feeds through to the FlightScanner site which simultaneously returns relevant available fares in a separate window on the user’s screen.
Apartments Abroad plans to enhance Travelhawk with additional holiday components such as car hire and transfers due to be introduced by the end of summer.
The company claims its website attracts up to 6.7 million hits a month and accounts for 84 per cent of its business.
