Arabian Peninsula takes to the road
For the first time in Australia, the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and Sultanate of Oman Tourism have joined forces to promote the Arabian Peninsula as a combined holiday destination.
The three tourism bodies will conduct a road show, visiting cities and regional towns throughout Australia and presenting to more than 300 agents across the country.
Julie King, director, Dubai Tourism, Australia & New Zealand representative office, said experiencing the diversity of the three destinations was the perfect way to be immersed in Arabian culture.
During the September road show, DTCM, ADTA and Oman Tourism will present their destinations to agents to provide a better understanding of the region and demonstrate how the destinations complement each other.
Mona Tannous, manager for Sultanate of Oman Tourism, Australia and New Zealand, said Dubai was only an hour’s drive from Abu Dhabi and Muscat could be reached in four hours “through a diverse landscape that includes rolling sand dunes, spectacular mountain ranges and beautiful wadisâ€.
Vera Huntink, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority country manager for Australia, said the UAE capital was working closely with Dubai and Oman Tourism to promote the Arabian Peninsula as a holiday destination in its own right.
Dates for the Arabian Peninsula road show are as follows:
5 September – Geelong
6 September – Canberra
7 September – Adelaide
12 September – Mackay
13 September – Gold Coast
14 September – Coffs Harbour
