Asia Pacific to lose top spot as the world’s largest travel region
With China’s borders mostly still closed and Japan only fully reopening this week, Asia Pacific is set to lose its top billing as the world’s most popular travel region.
According to a report from the Centre for Aviation (CAPA), Asia Pacific will no longer be number one by the end of 2022.

In 2019, 3.38 billion passengers travelled by air through Asia Pacific airports.
CAPA expects European air travel to recover to about 85% of pre-pandemic levels,.
Japan fully reopens on October 11.
