ATEC supports Tourism Australia
The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) today expressed its continued support for and confidence in Tourism Australia.
In response to media reports on the departure of Tourism Australia Managing Director Scott Morrison, ATEC Managing Director Matthew Hingerty said that regardless of the personnel change, ATEC was confident that the relationship between the tourism industry and Tourism Australia would be “business as usual”.
“Since the launch of the Tourism White Paper, Tourism Australia has displayed energy, purpose and strategic acumen that has won the support of the industry,” Mr Hingerty said.
“Tourism Australia’s support for ATEC, the tourism industry and in particular the thousands of small businesses that constitute it, has improved on the already strong relationship that existed under the former Australian Tourist Commission.
“That Tourism Australia is in such a strong position today is a fitting legacy for Mr Morrison.”
ATEC Chairman John King expressed ATEC’s gratitude to Mr Morrison.
“Over the period of Scott’s tenure, Tourism Australia took a considered and strategic approach to international tourism marketing, culminating in the massive international exposure for the new marketing campaign.
“I would like to place on record an expression of the gratitude of the ATEC Board and membership to Mr Morrison and to whish him all the best for the future.”, Mr King conclu
