Attendance high at Planeta’s online NGO conference
Over 150 participants from more than a dozen countries have registered for planeta.com’s online conference on ‘NGOs in Tourism and Conservation’.
The conference aims to examine the role of non-profits and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the tourism and conservation cultures. Participants will review how these players interact with other sectors including business, government, academia, media and the general public.
Introducing the conference, host Ron Mader said: “Non-governmental organizations are strong players in the development of sustainable travel and ecotourism, yet rarely has their role been examined in depth. This conference opens the doors to a frank discussion that until
now has been conducted in private conversations.”
Registration to the conference is free, but active participation is limited to those with two years of experience working with or within NGOs. Students and others new to the field are welcome to listen. For more information, go to: http://www.planeta.com/ecotravel/tour/tourism_conservation.html
