Australian tourist dies after boat capsizes
An Australian woman has died after she was flung overboard from a small tourist boat off the Bali coast.
Anna Maree, from Canberra was celebrating her birthday on the snorkeling cruise.
The boat heading to offshore island Nusa Penida, was hit by a large wave, sending her into the water.
Moments later another large wave capsized the glass bottom Sea Dragon 2 boat.
A nearby boat rescued the other 12 people, police spokesperson Agus Widiono said.
The woman’s body was recovered by a rescue team a short time later.
Two other Australians were injured.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it is providing assistance to the woman’s family.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” a DFAT spokesperson said.
