AWS outage causes disruption for Delta, United

Monday, 20 Oct, 2025 0

Major airlines United and Delta have been caught up in a hours-long disruption due to an outage at Amazon Web Services.

Both airlines reported issues early on Monday.

It led to problems for several hours checking in for flights and dropping off bags.

United said ‘our teams are working to get our customers on their way’ while Delta still reported ‘minor delays’ with flights by mid morning.

Delta added it did not ‘anticipate any significant customer impact moving forward as a result of this event.’

It came during the government shutdown which has caused delays and some disruption intermittently at various airports, due to air traffic control staff shortages and other issues.

It was on the back of delays at major hub airports on Sunday, including Chicago and Newark, where weather issues were also a factor.
