BA gears up for Euro 2004
BRITISH Airways is gearing up for this summer’s European Football Championships by adding 14,000 extra seats between London and Portugal.
Such is the demand from supporters that the carrier has replaced its 170-seat 757s on its four-daily Heathrow to Lisbon services in June with 350-capacity 747 jumbos. In addition, a new Gatwick service will operate to the Portuguese capital on June 12, 13 and 14 with return flights every Saturday until July 10.
Tens of thousands of English fans are expected to descend on Portugal for the tournament which kicks off on June 12. Many flights have been fully booked since the turn of the year.
BA director of marketing and commercial development Martin George said; “The speed at which these tickets have sold proves just how important Euro 2004 is to the British public. We’re hoping the extra seats we’ve provided help give the England team even more support to ensure they bring the cup home.”
BA said there are still a limited number of seats available to travel out the weekend before the first match and back after the final on July 4.
