BA moves long haul flights to Heathrow T3
British Airways launches long-haul flights from Heathrow Terminal 3 today, when it will switch services to Accra, Cape Town, Denver, Las Vegas Miami, Nairobi, Phoenix and Vancouver from T5.
A new check-in area has been created, including a dedicated area for premium customers.
The move of these long-haul flights is the last part of British Airways’ consolidation into two terminals at Heathrow, following the closure of Terminal 1 in June.
The extra flights in Heathrow Terminal 3 will mean that it will handle a similar number of British Airways’ customers each day as Gatwick.
Ian Howick, director of Heathrow for BA, said: "We have invested in new facilities in Terminal 3 and our customer service teams are really looking forward to giving several thousand more customers a warm welcome every day.
"The airport has also enhanced its baggage system which will ensure a smoother and faster transfer of bags between flights in Terminal 3 and 5.
"Having flights to more than 20 destinations in Terminal 3 means we can offer better connections to many of our oneworld partners who are also based within the terminal."
