BA to launch daily service to Chennai
British Airways is to start operating its new 787 Dreamliner on flights to Chennai in India, to where it will be operating a daily service from Heathrow, starting in October.
Chennai will be the eighth BA route served by the Dreamliner, which it is currently flying to Newark and Toronto. From March it will also start flying to Austin in Texas and from the summer it will fly to Hyderabad, Chengdu, Philadelphia and Calgary.
Richard Tams, BA head of UK & Ireland sales and marketing said: "We are delighted that Chennai is the second city in India to benefit from the 787."
British Airways is introducing 20 new aircraft into its fleet this year including four 787s and five A380 superjumbos. In total the airline has ordered 24 787s and 12 A380s.
