Bali drug boy to go free next weekend
The 14-year-old Australian boy arrested with 3.6 grams of marijuana on holiday in Bali will be released next weekend after being sentenced to two months in prison. He was also fined 23 cents.
The boy, who has hid his identity during court appearances, has already been detained for seven weeks following his arrest on the streets of Bali.
In handing down the sentence today, the judge said he was aware that the affair had the potential to impact on tourism to Bali. Australians provide Bali with its single biggest visitor source.
The boy listened to the sentence protected by his father.
Like all defendants found guilty, he was ordered to pay a 2000 rupiah (23c) court administration fee
