Banff visitors first on Canada’s ski slopes
Canada’s Banff National Park is on track for another record-breaking ski season as Mt. Norquay marks its earliest opening in its 87-year history.
Boasting one of the longest ski seasons in North America, and on the heels of last year’s 34 feet of snowfall in the park, Mt. Norquay is Canada’s first ski resort to open this year.
Located minutes from the town of Banff, Mt. Norquay has seen 30cm of natural snow in the past week, which combined with perfect temperatures, has served up prime early season conditions.
Banff National Park is home to three of the world’s finest ski resort: Mt. Norquay, The Lake Louise Ski Area and Sunshine Village.
The three resorts offer almost 8,000 acres of skiable terrain on one convenient, tri-area lift ticket.
The Lake Louise Ski Area and Sunshine Village are set to open November 9.
The Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup takes place November 24-25 for the men’s events and November 30-December 1 for the women’s events.
The world’s fastest skiers will compete in downhill and super-G in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
