A business travel franchise has been opened in Belfast by leading Scottish travel agency Barrhead Travel.
The franchise is the first outside Scotland and the first for corporate travel for the firm.
The business is operated and managed by Edel Doherty, who has 27 years’ experience in the travel business in Northern Ireland, and employs four full-time staff.
Barrhead chief executive Sharon Munro said: “The Belfast business travel franchise is a first for us, and we know that it will be a success, due to Edel and her team’s commitment and determination.
“Although Barrhead Travel is best known for leisure travel, business travel has long been one of the services we provide – we have a large team in our Oswald Street superstore and also have staff who work from home – and this will certainly not be our last venture into business travel franchises or into Northern Ireland.”
Barrhead, which opened the first city centre travel superstore in the UK in Glasgow eight years ago, now employs more than 450 staff in 16 branches and has turnover of more than £80 million a year.
