BA’s City deal good news for business travellers
UK: New flights mean extra choice on European routes from London
British Airways will this week start to run European services out of London City airport after rejecting the east London facility for more than 15 years.
The carrier is aiming to offer fares that compete with other carriers at other airports, rather that concentrating on the business fares normally associated with the airport.
The Times reports that London City is now poised to compete on equal terms with the four other London airports, offering one-night-stay return flights to Paris for as little as £65 if tickets are booked three weeks ahead.
The newspaper also points out that the airport is very convenient for many travellers based in London and other parts of the south east, with check-in times of as little as 10 minutes and fast-track parking services that allow just a two-minute walk from car to terminal.
The Times states that BA’s main three European destinations – Paris, Frankfurt and Glasgow – are now accessible from City, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, and all at prices below £65 return.
