BBC 2 Hampton Court Special to cover Bailiwick of Guernsey
The Bailiwick of Guernsey will feature as part of a BBC 2 special to coincide with the Hampton Court Flower show. VisitGuernsey achieved success in attracting the BBC 2 film crew to highlight the floral beauty of the Islands. Accompanied by former Gardener’s World presenter Pippa Greenwood the crew visited both Guernsey and Herm to obtain an insight into the vibrant floral community that sits behind VisitGuernsey’s stand at the flower show. Peter Falla, Marketing Manager for events and activities at VisitGuernsey said “it had been our intention for the film crew to also highlight floral Alderney and Sark but sadly the weather conditions did not permit this within the tight schedule. The programme makers were, however, very pleased with the end product”. “During the course of the hectic two day visit the film crew visited Herm and interviewed the gardeners” explained Mr Falla. “A visit was made to the Sausmarez Manor sculpture Trail and also Candie Gardens. The Hampton Court team also interviewed Mr Paul Domaille, one of the largest commercial freesia growers in the Island, as well as visiting the Guernsey Freesia Centre”. The two programmes will be screened this Thursday and Friday and are scheduled to start at 8 pm for one hour. VisitGuernsey has not yet received confirmation as to which day the Islands will be featured. The broadcast opportunity will provide excellent exposure of the Bailiwick to floral and gardening enthusiasts around the United Kingdom. Ends.
