Best sites for cheap travel?
CheapTickets.com released its second annual Value Travel Forecast Cheapometer which included, among other items, where value-minded travelers might be happiest. Among suggestions:
- Hawaii at its cheapest? Go in the spring when you can save 22%, suggests the site.
- Go to Lake Tahoe in November to beat the high ski season rush and save more than 53%.
- During Montreal’s world-famous celebration of film and art held in March, hotels offer significant savings of up to 40% compared to peak rates.
“There are no hard-fast rules in the game of travel,” said Marita Hudson Thomas of the CheapTickets Cheap Squad(SM). She added:
“But the cyclical nature of our business allows us to look back for a meaningful look forward. By using the month-by-month pricing averages provided in this report, travelers can identify more budget-friendly opportunities in 2008.”
The CheapTickets Cheapometer is a monthly travel pricing guide that analyzes where vacationers can find the best value for their money.
The site also selected its favorites for the upcoming new year, with some cities such as Phoenix and Lake Tahoe offering savings of more than half if visited off season.
