Best Western Australia to operate brand in New Zealand
Following the recent announcement that the New Zealand Motel Federation and Best Western International parted ways, the Motel Federation of Australia (who operate the Best Western brand in Australia ) has now expanded to include the New Zealand region.
The Motel Federation of Australia has stated that the strategy for New Zealand will be to move forward with only the best properties, which will be required to meet criteria designed to ensure a high quality product is presented under the Best Western brand in a number of key locations within the region.
“We want a more strategic and better quality product in New Zealand ,” commented Executive Director, Robert Anderson. “This will help us achieve greater consistency across the product we offer in Australia and New Zealand as we continue to raise the bar on the standards required to be a Best Western hotel.”
“This opportunity in New Zealand means we can start from a clean slate and more forward, taking only the best of the best with us.”
With the consolidation that has taken place within the New Zealand distribution system as well as the increased popularity for the web as an information source and booking tool, it now makes better economic sense to combine the Best Western Australia and New Zealand regions, thereby provide significant strategic advantages for both the guests and the member hotels in both countries.
This includes the ability to more easily package accommodation; strengthening of the member referral network that is so much a part of what the Best Western brand means to its members; many clients may find it far more convenient to deal with one contact, rather than having to deal with each country separately; and Best Western will also boost its buying power, increase its marketing strength and reduce some of its operating costs via dual country corporations and wholesalers, joint programs, co-operative promotions and shared infrastructure.
