Blue Lagoon the ultimate Fiji cruise

Thursday, 23 Jan, 2007 0

The main island of Fiji seemed to have some pretty large rain clouds gathering when The Mole met with Scott Forrest, Director Commercial Operations for Blue Lagoon Cruises, based out of Lautoka on the main island in Fiji.

Steve explained that during this time of the year, the further out you go away from the mountains on the main island, there is less humidity, less cloud and less rain, which is all created by the mountains in the form of what locals called the three giants, which create most weather patterns around Nadi!

Sounds good to me!

It was also the reason why Scott says that getting off the mainland at this time of the year as soon as possible is critical to avoid rain and cloud, which can stall all day over the coast and cause heavy rain showers, with no surprises that Scott told me that a Blue Lagoon Crusie was the ideal way to do it, as it was really your own floating resort and why restrict yourself to one or two resorts when your resort floats along with you – and hey no re-packing girls!

Departing from Lautoka to the Yasawas, Scott says that a Blue Lagoon Cruise can be extremely active, but the choice is yours to decide what to do, with nothing forced on anyone, adding that they only cruise a max of 4hrs a day allowing plenty of time on shore or on board, lazing around or undertaking the heaps of activities available or just swimming or snorkelling in the clear blue waters of the islands.

You can even catch a fish and the chef will cook it for you for dinner, now if that is not fresh fish then The Mole does not know what is?

The Fiji Princess, [pictured below] the newest vessel in the fleet has a small pool, but as Scott said, who need a poll when the Blue Lagoon vessel you are one is really floating in one!

All the crew are Fijian so the experience is a real Fijian one, not an imported one into Fiji, which is an important element of a Blue Lagoon cruise as the company believes in investing in Fijian tourism and communities and sustaining local employment.  The Fijian Captain is also there to make sure that everything runs properly on board, but also to ensure that the programme is what passengers want and because for example the Fijian Princess only carries 66 pax, you wil see him around regularly.

In closing Scott wanted to pass on a message to Australian and New Zealand travel agents, saying “Do yourself and your clients a favour, Fiji has never been better value and is very unlikely to be better value in the future, especially the way bookings are coming in, so book now!”

He added, “There are some fabulous Blue Lagoon deals in the market right now and they can be checked out very simply be clicking now on www.bluelagooncruises.com!”

“We also have some great industry deals so if you want to come and check us out, just give us a call or visit: http://www.bluelagooncruises.com/AgentsArea/.
