Blue raises capacity on Channel Islands flights

Saturday, 13 Dec, 2013 0

Channel Islands-based airline Blue Islands has increased capacity on its Guernsey to Southampton flights with the introduction of a 66-seat ATR 72-500 aircraft.

The aircraft is the first of its kind for the airline and will increase capacity on the route by 250%.

Blue Islands now offers three flights a day on weekdays and two flights a day at the weekend, following the inaugural flight on December 6.

Managing director Rob Veron said: "The combination of Flybe abandoning the Gatwick service and the continued growth of our business means it is a perfect time to significantly upgrade our offering from Guernsey to Southampton.

"We maintain true to our belief that there are better airports to fly to than Gatwick, both for travel to the UK, London and worldwide and our diverse network illustrates this."
