BlueSky Travel Systems posts first profit
Software provider BlueSky Travel Systems moved into the black for the first time in 2007.
Figures for the year ending December show a profit of £1.77 million against a loss of £2.1 million in 2006.
Turnover rose from £2.1 million to £8.2 million.
The number of staff increased to 115 against 65 at the end of 2006 as 50 people were recruited to the company’s Manchester office.
Managing director Mark Fallon said: “In 2006 BlueSky Travel Systems signed a £20 million deal, the Globe project, to replace Thomas Cook’s existing reservation systems throughout Europe with its market leading itour product.
“The subsequent merger of Thomas Cook with MyTravel has naturally increased the scope and scheduled rollout of the Globe project.
“BlueSky Travel Systems has seen a year of strong growth where our successful delivery of Globe is reflected in our revenues for the first time.
“In addition, the increased uptake of our product by a number of other new customers in the travel market has resulted in us increasing our headcount and office space.
“We are anticipating significantly increased revenues for 2008.â€
