bmi regional launches Aberdeen to Oslo route
bmi regional has launched its last new route this year ahead of a re-branding focus next year.
The airline, which was sold off by IAG last year to an aviation consortium, Sector Aviation Holdings, is starting an Aberdeen to Oslo service from October 28.
The £8 million sale by BA parent, IAG, in 2012, included all bmi regional"s fixed assets and long-term liabilities, including owned and operating lease aircraft – plus the bmi name and URL.
From 2014, the regional airline is to re-brand simply as ‘bmi’ with a focus on the ‘Britishness’ – British style, British charm, said marketing director Colin Lewis.
It will also be revamping its on-board offering with new menus and the launch of a loyalty card for frequent flyers, see separate interview.
Lewis added: "We want to bed down the new routes and refresh the brand, highlighting the ‘Britishness’.
"We want to bring the brand back to the British consciousness and to say it’s the best of old and new."
