Body found in Tenerife close to where British worker went missing
The search for a British woman who went missing in Tenerife has been called off after a body was found close to where she disappeared.
Amy Louise Gerard, 28, originally from Cleethorpes, was last seen outside Irish bar, Molly Malone’s, in Puerto de la Cruz in the early hours of Friday.
She had worked at the Loro Parque marine theme park and had been out with friends to celebrate a birthday.
The Sun newspaper had got hold of video footage showing Amy singing along to The Pogues song Fairytale of New York in the Irish pub.
The body was found in the sea near the city’s lighthouse, just 600m from the pub.
The island’s police confirmed a body had been found but not yet identified. A post mortem is due to be carried out.
