Bomb in a bag joke closes Anchorage Airport
Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was evacuated on Sunday when a man checking in to an Alaska Airlines flight made a joke about carrying a bomb in a bag.
The man was arrested and the airport was evacuated. Passengers were herded out of the airport into the freezing cold at about midnight until shuttle buses could be organized to take them to another terminal.
After an all clear at about 3 a.m., the airport re-opened.
The man who made the ill-advised bomb joke is being held on $5,000 bail.
