Bomb ‘joke’ woman on her way home
A woman who was facing jail after telling security guards she had a bomb in her luggage is reportedly flying home after being fined. 21-year-old Samantha Morton allegedly told security guards at Miami International Airport: “Careful, I have three bombs in here”, and then repeated the same statement twice more. She spent four days in jail, and had been warned that she could face several years behind bars. But the woman is understood to have been freed after writing a letter of apology for the incident – and donating roughly £550 to families of the September 11 terrorist attacks. She had already admitted that she had made a “foolish mistake,” adding: “This is a warning for everybody who wants to play stupid jokes, not to do that. I wasn’t thinking; that was my problem.”
