Bovril launches Britain’s First ‘Extreme Urban Campsite’

Brits no longer have to worry about finding the money to leave the country this year as the great outdoors is now being brought into the city. Bovril, a favourite drink of UK campers, has launched Britain’s first ‘Extreme Urban Campsite’ to help people make the most of their surroundings in the credit crunch.
Pitched 230 feet on top of a building in Shoe Lane in Central London, this sky-high campsite is being trialled to support inner city folks who do not have the time or money to escape to the country this year. Bovril are keen to encourage the nation to enjoy all of Britain’s outdoor spaces and views – urban or rural – and, depending on feedback, more city campsites could be rolled out across the country.
The launch follows an increase in the number of Brits now opting to holiday in the UK due to the credit crunch.
The Camping and Caravanning Club’s advanced bookings are currently 30% higher compared to this time last year whilst the Club saw an incredible 50% rise in occupancy rates on its 109 UK Club Sites over Easter.
Jon Dale, from The Camping and Caravanning Club, added: “Camping has always played a big part in the British outdoors and our latest figures only help demonstrate the fact that camping and caravanning is becoming all the more popular.
As a Club, we simply want to help members of the public enjoy the adventure and make the most of the outdoors.
Bovril’s ‘Extreme Urban Campsite’ will hopefully encourage inner city Brits to save their pennies and make the most of the outdoor spaces all around the UK!”
David Titman, Brand Manager for Bovril commented: “Bovril has been warming up Britain for more than a hundred years and has always been at home in the great outdoors. It’s time to get people excited about camping and enjoying all the outdoor spaces Britain has to offer, whether it’s on top of a skyscraper or out in a field!”
