Boy dies in Mt Buller tragedy
A young boy has died in tragic circumstances after being buried in snow on Mount Buller, in Victoria’s northeast.
The seven-year-old was found unconscious by a ski patrol and was taken to Mount Buller Medical Centre.
He later died from cardiac arrest after doctors spent “significant time” trying to revive him.
A police spokesman told radio 3AW the boy had been playing in the snow with his parents and two siblings when he wandered off.
"We believe there’s been some sort of (snow) slide off the roof of a building that’s engulfed him," police said.
A Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster said there was a near whiteout when the boy went missing and visibility was very poor.
