Breeze Airways aims to be ‘world’s nicest airline’
David Neeleman’s fifth airline start-up finally has a permanent name.
Dubbed ‘Moxy’ during its planning stage, Neeleman’s latest venture has been named Breeze Airways.
Breeze hopes to take flight by the year-end.
An airline operating certificate application has been filed and it plans to serve mid-sized US cities that are currently not linked with direct flights.
"Breeze will fly non-stop service between places currently without meaningful or affordable service," said Neeleman.
Neeleman has also given the airline a tagline.
"We brought humanity back to the airline industry with JetBlue. Today, we’re excited to introduce plans for ‘the World’s Nicest Airline.’"
To kick off operations, Breeze has leased 30 Embraer aircraft and will start taking delivery of them in May.
It also ordered 60 new Airbus 220 jets which will arrive from next year.
There are high hopes for Breeze as Neeleman has one of the most successful track records in aviation.
As well as JetBlue, he previously co-founded Westjet, Morris Air and Brazil’s Azul.
