Bristol service withdrawn by Lufthansa

Lufthansa is withdrawing a service between Bristol and Frankfurt as part of its summer flying schedule.

A London-Berlin service will transfer to Heathrow from London City Airport to allow the introduction of Airbus 319 aircraft, increasing capacity on the route by more than 50%, according to the airline.

A third daily frequency will be added between Edinburgh and the German city.

A seasonal service will also run between Inverness and Dusseldorf between June 20 and September 12.

The summer timetable also includes the new offer of flights by Lufthansa Italia between London Heathrow and Milan Malpensa.

General manager UK & Ireland Marianne Sammann said: “Despite the suspension of our service between Bristol and Frankfurt, Lufthansa will still have a presence in the South West following the introduction of the new bilateral code sharing between Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines.

“So, the vast majority of our UK passengers will have more and even better connections to a wide range of destinations.

“At the same time, our portfolio is growing with the new Lufthansa Italia offer from Heathrow.

Bookings for the new service are growing at a rate of well over 1,000% since January, an excellent take up of our now increased offer of six daily flights from London to Milan.”
