British couple killed on holiday in US
An elderly British couple on holiday in the United States have been killed trying to cross a busy road.
Edward McElroy, 76, and his wife Brenda, 70, were hit by a pick-up truck and died at the scene, said the Daily Telegraph.
The couple,from Blackpool, were apparently trying to cross the busy Route 60 freeway to reach a restaurant recommended by staff at the Best Western hotel in Barboursville, where they were staying.
The driver of the pick-up truck that struck them, a 56-year-old woman, was treated for shock in hospital. Local police said no charges were pending against the driver.
