British schoolboy dies in Greece speedboat tragedy
A British schoolboy has died after falling from a speedboat during a family holiday on the Greek island of Paxos.
Fifteen-year-old Toby Finnett is understood to have lost his balance in choppy seas and fallen from the boat, which was being driven by his father Paul Finnett, an oil executive.
The accident happened in front of the boy’s parents and his 17-year-old and 15-year-old siblings.
After falling into the water, Toby was hit by the boat’s propeller blades. The family rushed him to hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Foreign Office said: "Foreign Office staff are supporting the family of a British child following his death in Paxos, and are in contact with the Greek police about the incident."
The family come from Littlehampton in Sussex but are understood to be living in Houston, Texas.
