British tourist attacked in Australia
A British backpacker is recovering after being stabbed by a minor in a popular Australian resort town.
The 25-year-old British tourist was allegedly attacked by a 15-year-old boy in Noosa, Queensland.
The incident followed an argument.
The teenager left and returned with a knife and bottle, police said.
The tourist was then stabbed, suffering back and hand wounds.
He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to local media.
The boy was overpowered and detained by members of the public until police arrived.
Police confirmed ‘a verbal argument between a 15-year-old male and a 25-year-old man.’
“The 15-year-old has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm,” a police spokesperson said.
“Investigations are continuing.”
Local media reported the victim was a UK national although the police or the Foreign Office haven’t yet confirmed this.
