Seven British trekkers were among 19 people killed in a place crash in Nepal today.
Their plane was on route to the Mount Everest region but crashed shortly after take-off from Kathmandu Airport.
According to some reports, investigators were looking into the possibility that it struck a bird as it was taking off. There were no reports of bad weather.
Five Chinese tourists, four Nepalis and three crew members were also killed when the Sita Air Dornier aircraft crashed on the bank of the Manohara river less than a mile from the airport.
The British Embassy has confirmed that British nationals were on board.
It is the latest of a series of fatal air crashes in Nepal.
Local media report that this is the sixth crash in the last two years in which a total of more than 120 people have been killed.
