British Travel Awards registrations open

Saturday, 05 Dec, 2021 0

Registrations for the 2021/22 British Travel Awards (BTAs) open today December 6, with travel companies able to register for listing on the consumer facing voting form.

This year registrations will be open for an extended period, until 22 May, to allow as many travel companies as possible to nominate their businesses for awards.

It is for the limited travel services provided in 2021, through to 2022 holidays taking place up to 2 October.

The awards’ categories will span all leisure travel industry sectors including, package holidays and tours; holiday planning and booking sources; cruise lines and ferries; airlines and transportation, hotels, villa accommodation and UK/domestic holidays and attractions.

In the interests of fair play, many awards will be graded by size of the company with small, media and large categories.

This year, in addition to the usual categories across all aspects of travel, there will be two consumer nominated categories for "Best Travel Company for Customer Service" and "Best Airline for Customer Service".

These awards have been introduced in direct response to consumers contacting the BTAs over the last 18 months to express their gratitude for travel companies who helped them make changes, cancel, and rebook their holidays during the pandemic.

These customer service awards will allow consumers to put forward any travel company they feel has offered excellent support, customer service, communication and flexibility regarding travel disruptions caused by the pandemic.

Also new this year are awards for companies offering specialist themed holidays in the wine and gastronomy; culture and arts; spa and wellness and walking and trekking arenas.

Consumer voting will be open from 4t July – 2 October 2022, and the British Travel Awards Gala Event to announce the 2021 / 22 winners will take place in London in November.

Consumer voting will again be promoted via the BTA database and in conjunction with consumer media partner Reach PLC across their national, regional and digital platforms.

British Travel Awards’ Lorraine Barnes Burton said:: "As an industry renowned for resilience and overcoming extraordinary disruptions to business, the travel industry has and we know will, continue to serve its customers, the UK’s travelling consumers and BTA voters, whenever and wherever they can – regardless of what life throws at us."

"Winning a 2021 / 22 British Travel Award will be the ultimate accolade, achieved from customer votes relating to their travel experiences during unprecedented disruption in 2021 and hopefully also more settled times in 2022."
