British woman killed in French Alps avalanche
A British woman has died in a French Alps avalanche.
The 45-year old was caught in the avalanche while hiking near Mont Blanc with two other people.
A rescue and medical ream were sent by helicopter but could not revive her.
An investigation was launched.
The local public prosecutor’s office said there was a French Alps avalanche warning Level 3 in place at the time.
Mont Blanc is Western Europe’s highest mountain at 4,810 metres.
