Brits like to be beside the seaside
Traditional British seaside resorts are tipped to draw in the crowds this year despite last summer being one of the wettest on record.
According to holiday rentals specialist Owners Direct, resorts like Bournemouth, Brighton and St Ives performed well last year and are already seeing a further rise in enquiries for this summer.
"Far from being put off by soggy deckchairs on the beach and the inevitable picnics in the car, holidaymakers are currently looking for the kind of British summer holiday that reminds them of their childhood," said a spokesman for the company.
Bournemouth has seen an 86% increase in enquiries year on year, while St. Ives has seen a 75% rise. The Cornish resort is the UK location that receives the most enquires on Owners Direct.
Overseas, Owners Direct has tipped Tenerife as the top destination this year – the most popular location being Los Christianos.
Based on the number of searches, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Mallorca, the Algarve and the Costa del Sol are also set to do well.
