Brits play it safe when choosing their holidays

Wednesday, 02 Apr, 2012 0

Just over one in 10 Brits has been on holiday to the same resort more than six times, according to a new survey.

The poll of 1,000 people, by holiday exchange company RCI, found 65% of Brits have returned to the same holiday resort more than once, while 11% said they had returned to the same resort six times or more.

When asked why:

– 45% said they simply had a good time there so they went back to have the same holiday

– 29% said the holiday met all their criteria

– 27% said they didn’t see a need to go elsewhere if they had already found somewhere they liked

– 14% said they liked familiarity

– 12% said they find it less stressful knowing exactly what to expect where they are going.

RCI managing director Sean Lowe said: "Over a third (35%) of the people we surveyed who ‘repeat holiday’, said they would actually try a different holiday if they knew they would get a similar experience."

The survey also found 36% of respondents are now taking fewer holidays than normal.
