Brooke and the family go to Malolo – again!

Sunday, 19 Jan, 2007 0

When Sydneysider Brooke Grech and her husband Darren asked their five kids this year where they wanted to go on holiday, there was no question whatsoever in all their minds that Malolo was the place they all wanted to go.

With a minor interlude visiting Lindeman last year, which they all said was nothing like Malolo, they all said we will only go to one place and that is Malolo!

This the 4th year and 2 coups that the Grech family has visited Malolo, which is quite an accolade for the guys in Malolo and in particular Steve Anstey and his excellent team.

By the way, I have been accused by some subscribers to TravelMole of over glossing my reports from Fiji, but I have to say that there is no gloss on any of this, with The Mole always telling it the way it is and the way I find it!

In any case back to the Grech’s!

Brooke, who is one of Sydney’s leading businesswomen as GM of one Australia’s largest and leading transport and logistics companies said, “We will always come back to Malolo and even though my Mum nearly disowned me because we were going this year again after the coup, there was no way we were not going to have our holiday in Mololo!”

She added, “We have been here so many times that we know that what happens in other places in Fiji, would never affect here.”  Malolo is also really great for Darren and me because the kids just disappear, are amazingly well looked after, have a great time and that gives us time for ourselves and to meet new people, have romantic dinners and just chill out and this is what Malolo is all about for us!”

We were joined for another glass of wine by Hayes and Keryn Heffer from Melbourne, who although they do not have any kids, said that the fact that there were young kids at Mololo was not an issue, because they were so well looked after, they did not distract at all from the calm or ambiance of Malolo, which they loved.

Described by Hayes as “on their second honeymoon”, the Heffers said they said that they generally go to Port Douglas, but this time decided to come to Fiji and loved it – they would be back!

Vicky, Danica and Tessa Christiensen agreed, saying that they had a great travel agent in Tina Edney at Globenet Travel and she had said that everything in Fiji would be fine and she was right!  They were also having a great time and what struck me as well was that Mololo was so safe for kids – they could go practically anywhere without bothering their parents!

Honeymooners Janna and Ben Taueki from Christchurch in New Zealand said that although their travel agent had said not to go, they were determined  and knew that they had made the right decision because they had seen no troubles and had a brilliant time.

They had stayed 5 nts at Malolo and were going to be staying 4 nts at Sonaisali adding that Mololo’s food was fabulous, with Janna even saying, “in a sick way another coup might mean that they could stay even longer”, adding, “now we have been to Mololo we are coming back”.
