Brussels Airport grows passenger traffic in February
Brussels Airport welcomed more than 1.6 million passengers last month, registering a year on year increase of 6.3%.
Cargo traffic was also up by a similar percentage.
The airport said the Carnival holidays fuelled growth in passenger numbers, reaching a total of 1,624,543.
The two-week holiday period fell earlier this year than in 2025.
Passenger traffic was driven by both intra-European connections and long-haul flights beyond Europe.
The share of transfer passengers, at 15%, remains significant, highlighting Brussels Airport’s role as a hub connecting Europe with Africa and North America.
The top ten destinations in February were Spain, Italy, Germany, Morocco, France, Turkey, Switzerland, Portugal, the UK and the US.
The average number of passengers per flight also continued to improve, with an average of 140 per flight, which is slightly up on February 2025.
Overall, Brussels Airport handled 13,761 commercial flight movements in February, up more than 4%.
