Budapest Airport set to welcome new long haul routes
Budapest Airport is expanding its air links across Europe with new routes and a new connection to East Asia.
Budapest Airport’s summer schedule sees an expansion of long haul flights to Seoul, South Korea.
From April 2026, Asiana Airlines will launch flights between Seoul and Budapest, which, together with sister brand Korean Air’s existing service, will allow passengers to travel to the South Korean capital six times a week.
Chinese connections will also continue to grow, with direct passenger traffic to China up by 43% compared to 2024.
Around a third of passengers arrive from or travel on to third countries, demonstrating Budapest’s growing regional role in air connectivity with Asia.
For many, the most eagerly awaited new addition for the summer schedule is the return of transatlantic flights.
After seven years, American Airlines’ Budapest-Philadelphia service will return with a daily flight in May, and Air Canada’s four weekly flights to Toronto will resume in June.
From May, Condor will operate a direct Budapest-Frankfurt service.
Together with Lufthansa’s existing flights, this will provide around 10,000 seats per week to one of Germany’s top business hub.
Homegrown carrier Wizz Air launches a host of new flights.
These include Ankara, Bergen (Norway), Billund (Denmark), Lamezia Terme (Italy), Kefalonia and Kalamata (Greece), Menorca, Sofia and Varna (Bulgaria).
Ryanair expands its services to Krakow this summer as well as to Lamezia Terme and Dubrovnik.
Budapest Airport says it will also welcome expanded services to the Baltic and Scandinavian regions this summer.
