Budget carrier WOW Air picks Delhi as first Asian destination
Fast growing Icelandic budget airline WOW Air is looking east for its next expansion phase.
Starting on December 6, WOW will link Delhi, India with its Keflavík hub near Reykjavik.
The service will initially start with three flights a week before increasing to five weekly flights in January 2019.
"This exciting new route is an important milestone in the growth of Wow Air and signifies our continuing mission to open the skies and enable even greater travel possibilities, always at the best rates possible," said CEO Skuli Mogensen.
The 10-hour route is now possible as the airline is set to take delivery of its first leased Airbus A330neos soon.
It becomes the airline’s first foray into Asia.
The LCC has long been looking at expanding into Asia and now has the aircraft able to do it, and other key Asian destinations are on the radar for launch in the near future, such as Singapore.
