Bulgaria, the next new experience for Tempo travellers

Sunday, 30 Mar, 2007 0

Tempo Holidays’ customers who have been to many of the mainstream western parts of Europe and still searching for “off-the-beaten track” experiences are looking to Bulgaria.

General Manager Product, Nigel Loveday said that while Bulgaria was a recent entrant to the European Union, it was yet to become a popular tourist destination for Australians, and today’s travellers would see it while it was still preserved.

“Travellers can visit many cities including the capital, Sofia, without the summer crowds of other European destinations”, he said, adding that historic monasteries are popular with tourists and locals alike.

Tempo Holidays has set five departures – between May 12 and September 1 – for its 7-days Best of Bulgaria tour which explores the country’s ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine sites, the capital Sofia, Orthodox monasteries, rural villages and expansive farmlands and forests.

Mr Loveday said the key to this tour was it offered strong regional coverage and thereby gave travellers the opportunity to understand today’s rural life as well as the country’s fascinating history.

The Sofia-Sofia tour is priced $1530 per person twin share which includes return private transfers from Sofia airport to downtown hotels, sightseeing, admission charges, 4 star hotels, 17 meals including one folklore show, English speaking guide on touring days, air conditioned touring vehicles and local taxes.

Tempo Holidays also has a Sofia walking tour ($55) and a full day Rila Monastery tour ($170), in additional to hotel accommodation in Sofia.
