A Jamaica-bound traveller on an American Airlines flight from Boston to Miami was arrested after baggage handlers found bullet primers in his luggage.
Bullet primers are the part of a bullet that sparks the gunpowder.
According to the FBI, the primers were discovered after a handler was unloading a black case and as he did so saw something shoot out of it.
The owner was charged with travelling in interstate commerce without a licence to carry ammunition.
The primer burnt the bag and hit the handler’s shoe. The FBI then discovered that the bag contained several hundred of the primers which all went off.
The incident is not being treated in connection with terrorism.
