Burger and chips in space…
Anyone who’s ever cringed when the person next to them makes a phone call using their speakerphone is not alone. It’s the number-one social pet-hate, according to a recent study by Expedia/Egencia. Playing music/games without headphones came in a close second, followed by taking photos or videos of strangers. For all you foodies out there, taking photos during a meal time was also frowned upon. We live in a time when mobile usage continues to rise, so it’s worth making a note of what might be deemed ‘socially unacceptable’ by your peers!
Ever been abroad or known someone who has been travelling when a natural disaster has occurred? It can be a traumatising time trying to get in touch with relatives to tell them that you are okay or to ensure that they are alright. Well, now Facebook has created a safety check whereby users whose city is located in and around the region of a disaster will receive a message from Facebook asking if they are alright. If they reply ‘yes’, Facebook writes a status for them to let all their loved ones know they are alright. It seems the Facebook status is taking a strident step forward.
I’ll have a burger and chips please… in space! We love a good PR stunt and are pleased to report that this week, physics graduates and owners of burger outlet ‘Chosen Bun’ in London, secured their names in the record books by sending the first burger and chips more than 112,000ft into space. The balloon that formed part of the elaborate fast-food space ship was reportedly the size of a two-bedroom house. What will Virgin Galactic serve to its first customers, we wonder?
And finally, over 100,000 people sent in their picks for their favourite Iceland secrets, to help ‘Promote Iceland’ curate the perfect itinerary for one lucky winner! Have a look at the resulting video. It’s no wonder Iceland is growing in popularity as a must-visit destination.
