Business as usual in Bangkok, say Thai tourist officials
An investigation continues after Sunday’s explosion at a Bangkok skytrain station.
Tourist officials insisted there is no cause for concern for tourists safety as more details of the explosion emerged.
The explosion happened near the walkway that connects Siam Paragon shopping mall to the Siam BTS skytrain station in central Bangkok.
"It was caused by two small improvised explosives,’ said a spokeswoman for the Tourist Authority of Thailand.
"Immediately after the incident occurred, Siam Paragon and other retail outlets in the Siam Square/Siam Centre area were closed, roads were blocked and shoppers and diners were evacuated from the area.
"The BTS SkyTrain system was temporarily suspended but resumed normal operation shortly after. The incident is currently under further investigation by authorities. No tourists were injured in this incident and there is no cause for concern for tourists safety."
She said businesses around the Siam Paragon area are open as normal today, Siam Paragon mall is open as normal and the BTS SkyTrain system is operating a normal service and stopping at Siam Station as usual.
