Business As Usual In The Sunshine State
Tourism Queensland CEO Anthony Hayes today urged holidaymakers not to cancel their Queensland holiday, saying that despite recent reports of bad weather it was business as usual in most parts of Queensland.
“Tropical North Queensland continues to enjoy sensational weather and unfortunately Tropical North Queensland operators have been receiving cancellations based on inaccurate media reports,” he said.
“We have had a lot of rain in the past few weeks in other parts of Queensland but most Queensland holiday destinations including Townsville, Airlie Beach, the Whitsundays, Fraser Coast and south-east Queensland are all back in fine form,” he said.
“While there is still flooding in Queensland’s Outback, particularly around Charleville and Emerald, it will be back to business as quickly as the flood waters have subsided.”
“Flooding in Queensland’s Outback is a cyclical natural phenomenon. The water will bring a lushness to the destination which, within a couple of weeks, will make it a stunning place to visit with wildflowers and abundant birdlife.”
“Visitors planning a trip to the Queensland Outback can expect one of the prettiest landscapes in years following this recent rain and will be spoilt for photo opportunities.”
