Business Events Week launched in Melbourne
Australia’s inaugural Business Events Week has launched in Melbourne to showcase the nation’s billion-dollar events industry.
Organised by the Melbourne Convention Bureau in its first year, Business Events Week, running until March 1, will include more than 50 events, with the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) as its centrepiece.
It is expected that the event in future years will grow to include events in cities around Australia.
Business Events Week features the trade component of the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition from February 26-March 1.
Federal minister for tourism Martin Ferguson said one in seven international visitors to Australia arrived for a business event.
