Business travel levels remain depressed
US business travellers are still reluctant to travel overseas following the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, according to Plog Research.
The market research firm says that the terrorist attacks, combined with the uncertain economy are continuing to “plague the business travel industry.”
According to the company’s American Traveller Survey, 23% of business travellers said they took less international business trips between September 11 and April 2002, with the largest decline among those travellers who travel for business most often.
And while frequent air travellers – who take more than 10 trips a year – say they are likely to take more domestic air journeys for business this year, all travellers anticipate a “significant reduction” in international business travel.
